Course Description:
This course is designed to demonstrate experimentally many of the concepts covered in the CHM100 lecture course. A total of eight lab classes and two "field trips" (averaging 2.5 hours each) are planned. Due to the potential hazards of designing your own chemistry experiments, the range of freedom given in this area will be necessarily limited. However, at the same time, the experiments you will perform in the lab will not always be typical of those found in a standard laboratory course. Many of the labs and both field trips will reinforce the importance of Chemistry in our daily lives. This laboratory class (CHM105) is designed to be complementary to the lecture course (CHM100) and all degree-seeking students are required to take both courses at the same time.
