A module that explores the history of western music from middle ages to the present, within its social and historical context, supported by listening and musical analysis. Developments in western art music from the Middle-ages to the present will be discussed and areas explored will include questions on early church music, Renaissance music, the Baroque period, the classical style, the Romantic period, and 20th Century music. The emergence of the Classical Style, its forms and major composers, the Romantic period, its place in European art of the 19th Century, 20th Century music, its major composers and the music within the context of 20th century history will all be discussed
