Course Description: In this course participants will study China’s shifting role in global governance. This course commences with introducing the key theories and concepts in global governance and main discourses on China’s rise in global affairs. This is followed by examination of several issue-focused case studies in global governance and China’s growing role in re-shaping international norms and standards. This includes topics such as Climate change; Belt and Road Initiative; International trade; Internet governance; Peacekeeping and International Humanitarian Movement; Human rights; Crisis management and COVID-19 pandemic;Poverty alleviation; and Food security.
