Course Description:
This course is a 3-credit intermediate course designed to improve English abilities to use in fields related to humanities and social sciences. Students will develop their competencies that are essential to communicate successfully in an academic environment including listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
In the classroom, learner involvement, interaction, and critical thinking are highly encouraged and promoted. To ensure the acquisition of the core language functions, students will utilize a variety of listening and speaking strategies necessary to comprehend news and lectures and to participate in discussions and presentations. In addition, they will enhance their reading skills by analyzing various types of authentic materials on the issues in the fields and study basic writing principles and how to use proper style, formality, vocabulary, and grammar in writing paragraphs and essays.
