This course introduces students to carefully selected non-fictional works on important cultural issues of
modern British and American society. While examining the linguistic, formal, and thematic characteristics
of each text, we will discuss diverse cultural topics including, but not limited to, race, gender, language,
and media that continue to challenge people in the English-speaking world. In the end, the course will
help us to understand why it is important to teach and study British and American culture for us to
grow as global citizens in 21st-century Korea.
