Course Details

Country: Japan
Course Title: Macroeconomics Ⅰ
Course Number: 26218
Course Description: The Japanese economy - once an economic powerhouse, now suffers from an array of macroeconomic problems; long-term lacklustre economic performance, a high level of public debt, long-term deflation followed by inflation, the aging society, the population decline, the lowered fertility rate, and the troubled social welfare system. We try to understand how these economy-wide problems affect our decision-making, the government and policy-making. This course introduces “problem-motivated” issues and provides an interactive approach to tackle the ‘big picture’ macroeconomic problems. Macroeconomics I mainly sets up a basic analytical framework improving the data literacy, while Macroeconomics II closely looks into the policy tools that manage the stability of the macroeconomy.
