"This is a first-year course required for all undergraduate students in all programs as it is a GER (general education requirement). Students are given the opportunity to acquire essential communication, academic writing and information technology skills to enable them to meet advanced demands in their major field of study. More specifically this course relates to those taught in later terms such as English102 and English 203/204."
"This course aims to help students with academic writing skills, guiding them through the principles of essay writing. Basic principles of paragraph writing are examined as well as various patterns of essay development. In addition, students are introduced to information literacy in order to develop effective search strategies and understand the differences between various types of information resources."
