Course Description: This course provides a general introduction into Andean based ethnography, mainly Peruvian, however with some references to work conducted in Bolivia and Ecuador. It begins with a discussion on how to understand the Andes as a geographical and socio-cultural space, as well as a panoramic vision of history. The course then moves onto reviewing a collection of important topics necessary to understand the diverse and complex set of social realities in the Andes.
