Rooted in a recognition and appreciation of cultural diversity, this course introduces students to theories about and critical issues involved in the communication and interpretation of culture by people with diverse backgrounds. Issues to be examined in the course include, among others, cultural differences not only across national boundaries but also across social groups defined by ethnicity, gender, and social classes, cultural issues in the global marketplace, relationships between national, regional, and organizational cultures, and communications across cultures in professional settings.
