Course Description: This course introduces students to the principles of hotel management. It contains an overview of organization, function, and management of lodging operation. The discussion will focus on the inter-relationships among stakeholders of a lodging facility - guests, managers, owners and employees. Special emphasis will be on the integration of the various departments of a hotel facility, i.e. Rooms, Front Desk, Sales, Food and Beverage (F&B), Purchasing, Housekeeping, Engineering and Maintenance, etc., to ensure customer satisfaction while maximizing the return on investment. Students will be exposed to computing applications specific to the hotel industry. Hotel security, guest safety as well as total quality issues will also be discussed.
