About Code of Virginia § 23.1-405(C)
Code of Virginia § 23.1-405(C), amended by HB2449 on July 1, 2019, prohibits a university from disclosing a student’s email address, physical address or telephone number under the directory information exception of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) unless (a) the disclosure is to students enrolled in the institution for educational purposes or institution business and the student has not opted out of such disclosure or (b) the student has affirmatively consented in writing to such disclosure except as required by state or federal law.
Why Should I allow Mason to share my information?

This authorization may be revoked at any time by contacting the Office of the University Registrar.
If you have a Confidential Hold on file with the Office of the University Registrar, it will remain in effect, including after graduation, until it is revoked, and will override any consent given to release your contact information through this form.
